About Garden Gameplan

We're Friday and Eric Shamblen — and we built this because we got tired of killing tomatoes.

Like you, we started with high hopes. We bought the seeds, watched the videos, and joined the Facebook groups. We got the same thing everyone gets: conflicting advice from people in completely different climates. "Plant in April!" might work in Georgia. In Sparta, Tennessee, where we live, it meant a late frost and a lot of dead seedlings.

Friday has been gardening for over 20 years. When people ask for her secret to a productive kitchen garden, her short answer is: "Data and worm poo." The data part is where Eric comes in — he handles the heavy lifting on data and engineering so we can turn your zip code and NOAA's climate data into something you can actually use.

We built Garden Gameplan to fix one thing: the timing gap. Generic advice fails in specific gardens. So we don't give you a PDF or another app. We give you a physical, week-by-week planner printed with your frost dates and your planting windows. No guesswork. Just a book on your counter that tells you what to do this week.

We also run KitchenGardens.com, where we share more of how we think about gardens. If you want a peek at the garden behind the product, Friday shares photos from our own kitchen garden on Instagram @kitchengardensdaily.
